A Bulldozer or Wheel Loader Operator assigned to work on the landside of the dredging operation is responsible for moving earth, sand, gravel, clay, or mud to create levees, to smooth and grading material being transported to the fill site, to create fill for beaches, disposal islands, and reclaim land. When working on beach nourishment projects with the Hopper or Hydraulic Dredge, the Operator has breaks between loads and may perform miscellaneous activities such as inspecting or servicing equipment, place or relocate pipe, fill shelters and welding equipment, or grade out fill. There are usually at least two Operators working either together or alternately. The Operator will encounter very steep piles of sand/fill or may be required to drive his Bulldozer or Wheel Loader into the water's edge. Will encounter jolting, bouncing and jerking, as well as spray and splashing from the body of water. May occasionally lift and carry parts and equipment generally weighting 31 to 50 lbs.
