ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project entailed removing approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of material from Lake Worth — located in Fort Worth, Texas — for the purpose of deepening the silted areas of the 100-year-old lake to 584 feet above sea level, or a depth of 6 feet when at its lowest level. At completion, this project helped boost the lake’s safety, recreational appeal and water volume, ultimately improving the area’s tourism sector. The first phase of the contract specifies dredging 1.8 million cubic yards of sediment from the bottom of Lake Worth, pumping the material through a 20-inch pipeline to a composter 1.7 miles from the site.
