ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The Regional Beach Sand Project was awarded to Great Lakes by the San Diego Association of Governments. Great Lakes replenished sand on approximately 19,000 feet of beach using the trailing suction hopper dredge, Liberty Island, a distance of 3.6 miles. This was the second regional renourishment undertaken by the San Diego Association of Goverments, successfully rebuilding eight southern California beachfronts in five cities between Oceanside and Imperial Beach.
