GLDD Announces Steel Cutting Ceremony on New Hopper Dredge

OAK BROOK, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (“Great Lakes”) (NASDAQ:GLDD), the largest provider of dredging services in the United States and a major provider of environmental and remediation services, announced that steel has been cut for the construction of its Articulated Tug & Barge (ATB) Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge. The steel cutting occurred at Eastern Shipbuilding Group’s Allanton facility in Panama City, Florida last month. As described previously, the 15,000-cubic-yard-capacity ATB Trailing Suction Hopper Barge, ‘Ellis Island,’ and 14,000-horsepower Tug, ‘Douglas B. Mackie,” will comprise the largest hopper dredge in the United States, enabling Great Lakes to be the low cost provider. It is expected to be delivered in 2016.
