ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The contract to deepen the Wilmington (NC) Harbor anchorage required both maintenance dredging and new work deepening efforts. In total, 790,000 cubic yards of material were dredged from the harbor bottom. The maintenance dredging portion of the project included the removal of 310,000 cubic yards of shoaled material. An additional 480,000 cubic yards were dredged for harbor deepening. Completed in January 2013, the anchorage basin was deepened to a required depth of -45 feet.
