Diyar Al Muharraq Dredging Project

The construction of the Diyar al Muharraq island system in the Kingdom of Bahrain called for the excavation and placement of 80 million cubic meters of marine borrow material – 35 million cubic meters in the first phase, and 45 million in the second phase. One of the largest projects completed by GLDD, it involved dozens of vessels, including six trailing suction hopper dredges, five cutter suction dredges, and a floating booster station. Completed in 2014, the Diyar Al Muharraq dredging project required more than 8,000 individual operational dredge days.
