ABOUT THIS PROJECT
During the spring and summer of 2019 Great Lakes Dredge and Dock was subcontracted by Western Construction Corporation to provide fill for a berm at the L575 Levee Breach under an Emergency Levee Contract for the USACE Omaha District.
GLDD mobilized its 24” diameter Cutter Suction Dredge ‘Iowa’ and support plant from Memphis Tennessee. Approximately 335,000cy of river sands were dredged from the Missouri River and pumped to create a berm to fill the levee breach. Dredge and fill operations were performed under elevated river conditions and high currents.
To support and ensure safe operations additional tugs, support equipment and site staff were employed. 100% IIF (Incident & Injury Free).
